Castletown. Original Oil Painting

A large oil painting, on deep edge high quality canvas professionally framed with a bespoke off white wooden tray frame.

This painting was inspired by the tranquil setting of “Castletown”, AKA Ballyglunin Train Station, Co Galway. 

This train station was used in the opening scene of “The Quiet Man” starring Maureen O’Hara & John Wayne, directed and produced by John Ford in 1952. This was one of the first colour films to be made outside of North America and went on to win two Oscars , one for best director & one for cinematography, colour. 

How could I not paint this little tranquil gem?

This is my interpretation of its former colourful glory. 🧑🎨🎨
